St. Patrick's Day Parade Entry Forms & Grand Marshal Nominations Are Open For more than a century, St. Patrick's Day has been one of Butte's high holidays. At the heart of the
annual celebration is the much-anticipated St. Patrick's Day Parade. Sons and daughters of the Emerald Isle, along with friends of the Irish near and far, line the streets of Uptown Butte, cheering as green-hued floats, bands, and horses, along with marching bagpipers, all pass by.
Butte's iconic parades would be nothing without the participation and support of our wonderful community. Here's your chance to be part of the spectacle.

PARADE ENTRANTS: Fees for individuals or groups wishing to participate in the parade are:
- $40 for community, non-profit, and political entries.
- $80 for commercial business entries.
NOTE: As a safety precaution, vehicles must be under 55 feet to participate in Uptown parades.
GRAND MARSHAL NOMINATIONS: Each year, St. Patrick's Day Grand Marshals are chosen from among entries submitted via citizen nominations. To nominate, see the form at the link below.

The 2026 St. Patrick's Day Parade will begin at noon on Tuesday, March 17 at the corner of Granite
and Wyoming, traveling west to Montana Street, south to Park, and then east on Park to Main.

The Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives’ Brown Bag Lunch Series welcomes John Trudnowski from Water & Environmental Technologies (WET) to present about the Parrot Tailings Waste Removal Project.

Parrot Tailings Waste Removal Project
This presentation will cover the Parrot Tailings Waste Removal Project. The Parrot Tailings Waste Removal Project was a waste removal project in the Silver Bow Creek corridor near the Civic Center that was completed in 2023 and funded by the Natural Resource Damage Program. Information will include site history, waste removal design and construction, reclamation design and construction, current land uses, and challenges overcome during the project.
The Brown Bag presentation will begin at noon on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026, and will last about an hour. The presentation will be held in the auditorium at the Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives, located at 17 W. Quartz Street. Guests are encouraged to bring a sack lunch. Coffee and water will be provided.
Brown Bag Lunches are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month. Upcoming lectures will focus on topics of local interest. For more information, contact the Archives at (406)782-3280.

JANUARY 14, 2026 - The Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation in conjunction with Montana Resources has awarded a total of $200,000 to support the Montana Folk Festival in 2026 -- $100,000 has been awarded to the Montana Folk Festival to be matched by contributions from Montana businesses.
"If the Montana Folk Festival organizers meet this challenge and raise a matching amount of $100,000," said Festival Director George Everett, "the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation will then disperse another $100,000, making their total direct contribution $200,000 for 2026."
Thanks in large part to this major support, the 2026 Montana Folk Festival will return to Butte July 10,11, and 12.
Since 2008, the Foundation has been a major contributor to the success of this festival which has become the largest free of admission summer event in Montana. This grant is offered as a challenge to Montana businesses to join in helping to make the festival a self-sustaining event that will continue to bring thousands of attendees to Butte and throughout Montana.
“From the very beginning in 2008, the Montana Folk Festival has attracted thousands of visitors from across the nation and created economic, social and cultural benefits to Butte, surrounding communities and Montana that have far exceeded expectations," said Jon Bennion, Executive Director of the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation.
“We are now seeking corporate sponsorships to match this generous grant,” said George Everett of the Montana Folk Festival Executive Committee. "Contributions made in the coming weeks and months will have an amplified impact thanks to this critical challenge grant,” added Everett.
“The skill and hard work of Montana Resources’ dedicated employees helps make it possible for the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation to be a major contributor to the Montana Folk Festival. We are a leader in our industry and we would like to be a leader as well in encouraging other businesses to support what has become a major economic and cultural event for our area,” said Jack Standa, Montana Resources President. “We hope that corporate citizens throughout the region will see the benefits to their communities and help meet this challenge,” he added.
