PRESS RELEASE:
Tuesday, July 23rd • 7:00 p.m. • Butte Cultural Heritage Center

Do you own one of the approximately 6,000 buildings in the Butte-Anaconda National Historic Landmark District? If so, you might wonder how, and why, it was included in the largest districts in America. How does a building make the National Register of Historic Places? What exactly do historic preservation experts look for in a building to determine its historic value?
Please join Middle Tennessee State University student Mercedes Collins and Butte-Silver Bow’s Historic Preservation Officer Kate McCourt at the Butte Cultural Heritage Center on Tuesday, July 23rd at 7:00 p.m. for a discussion about the origins of the preservation movement in America, and where Butte fits in as a city with eclectic, and in some cases pristine, examples of American architectural styles, and the characteristics that define then.
The Butte Cultural Heritage Center, located at 327 West Galena in Uptown Butte is a project of Community, Culture and Heritage, Inc., a Butte-based non-profit organization. The Center features events and programs celebrating the diverse cultural and ethnic heritage of Butte-Silver Bow. This special presentation will be free to the public; however, the Center will gladly accept donations. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.
For more information, please contact the Butte-Silver Bow Archives (406) 782-3280.
