Anton “Tony” J. Jangula, January 25, 1932 to January 19, 2017

Tony Jangula, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, passed away January 19, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Tony was born to John and Catherine (Kelsch) Jangula in Linton, ND, January 25, 1932, the youngest of nine children.  He enjoyed spending time with his parents, siblings   and friends.  His mother passed on when he was 13.  He helped with maintaining the family farm and was a groundskeeper at local churches. 
Tony came to Butte, MT at a young age.  Tony married Donna Dalbec in December of 1952. During their 63 year marriage they raised seven children.
Tony worked as a hard rock miner for 39 years and was very good at and proud of that work.   He was 
known as one of the best contract miners on the Hill.  One of the highlights of his mining career was being part of the crew that sunk the shaft to reach the Mile High Mile Deep.  Tony also worked at New Butte Mining, the Black Pine Mine and The Bagdad Gold Mine as well as other mining operations.  He could also be found logging when necessary to provide for his family.  Tony taught love, discipline and respect to his children.  He and Donna instilled a great work ethic in their children.  Tony was a proud member of the ARCO Retirees Club where he played pool and reminisced with his fellow miners.  He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.  He was a devout Catholic.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents John and Katherine, stepmother Magdalina, loving wife Donna, and his siblings Barbara, Joseph, Frank, John, Leona, Pius and Andrew.
Tony is survived by his children and their spouses, Kathy and Ken Schelin, Tony and Kathy Jangula, Charley and Diane Jangula, Debbie and Joe Rask, Joe and Kellie Jangula, Fred and Dicie Jangula and Barb and Jim Scott. He has 23 grandchildren, Eric Schelin, Dana Rice, Donna Rowling, Robert Jangula, Triann, Jangula, Joyce Sandefer, Kristin Wunsch, Adrianne Harrison, Jackalynn Snow, Cindi Rask, Teri Jo Rask, Amanda Jangula, Hanna Jangula, Isabella Parini, Gabriella Parini, Sophia Parini, Jennifer Basnett, Jenna Anderson, Jake Jangula, Alan Gragg, Brendan Gragg, Mercedes Scott Putra and Alexus Scott.  Great grandchildren: Abigail, Ethan, Riley, Kaden, Gage, Carter, Garrett, MaKenna, Desmond, Liam, Maylee, Hailee, Grant, Garrison, Olivia and Colt to arrive in April.  Also surviving is his sibling Katherine Fisher and sisters-in-law Dorrie Bolton, Marguerite Leason, Mary Jo Pyhel, brother in law, Fred (Vernetta) Dalbec.
A very special and sincere thanks to his daughter in law Dicie Jangula.  Thank you also to Highlands Hospice staff Julie, Pati, Tracey,Dr. Hueftle and especially, Julie, Patti, Tracey, Barb, Kathleen, and Christine. Barb, Kathleen, Christine and Dr. Hueftle, Sister Marie and Father Beretta and all who offered special prayers.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Friday January 27, 2017 at 10:00 am at St Patrick Church with funeral mass celebrated at 11:00 am. Rite of Committal will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
