Lenore Rose (McGreevey) Prigge passed away on December 9 at the age of 90 from natural causes at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 20th, 1927 in Anaconda, Montana to Patrick Joseph (“PJ”) McGreevey and Hazel (Mehrens) McGreevey, the sixth of eight children.

She attended school in Anaconda, and during high school she worked at the Washoe Theatre, where she developed a lifelong love of film. Lenore graduated from Anaconda Central High School in 1945 and attended college in Great Falls, Montana. It was there that she met the love of her life, Bob Prigge. They married, and after Dad graduated they returned to Anaconda where Bob began working for The Daly Bank. They loved being in Anaconda close to family and created many warm memories while raising their three young children.

In 1956 the family moved to Butte and laid permanent roots. Bob began his career in the accounting profession and Lenore worked in several places including Hennessey’s Department Store and the women’s clothing stores of Gene’s and Maggie Ann’s. She loved being in the retail business and took great pride in helping women look their best.

Lenore was a fiercely independent woman to the end and the true matriarch of her family. She had a dry wit and loved a good laugh, especially with her two buddies Hazie and Dianha. She loved animals, above all her Irish Setters Brandy and Red. Her strong Catholic faith, Irish heritage, and kind, gentle spirit had a way of putting people at ease and made her an inspiration to her children, grandchildren, and friends.

Education was a great love of Lenore’s. In 2001, she established the Robert L. Prigge Scholarship Endowment at the University of Montana. The endowment provides scholarships for accounting students from Butte. She took great pleasure in reading the annual letters of appreciation from students who received these scholarships.

Lenore and Bob enjoyed traveling and had many happy memories with family and friends at their cabin at Georgetown Lake. Thirty years ago, they began living in Rancho Mirage, California during the winters, where they enjoyed the weather, developing friendships and playing golf. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Bob, and all of her siblings: Marie Fenner (Bing), Dr. Virginia McGreevey DVM, Dr. Don McGreevey, Dr. Jim McGreevey (Grace), Rita McGreevey, Ed McGreevey, and Dr. Frank McGreevey.

She is survived by sisters-in-law Luann McGreevey and Laverne McGreevey; her children—Patty (RD) Corette, Bob (Cindy) Prigge, and Rick Prigge (Karen Stout); her grandchildren—Lorrie Campbell, Chris (Steve) Noyd, Joe (Mary) Monahan, Sean Monahan, Megan (Christopher) Wallace, Cameron Lundy, Justin Prigge, Jason (Molly) Prigge, Leigha (Peter) Hession, Jon Prigge, Leo (Jen) Prigge, and Ricky Prigge (Kyla Garcia); and her sixteen great grandchildren—Ian and Emily Campbell; Reed Noyd; Caitlin, Noah, and Seth Monahan; Paige, Kyle, and Kaylee Monahan; Trianna, Madison, and Preston Lundy; Jack and Ella Prigge; Olivia Hession, and Dash Prigge.

The family would particularly like to thank Diahna Sayles for the wonderful friendship and care she gave Mom over the years, as well as Amelia Davis, Sheena Hensley, Senior Solutions and Frontier Hospice for their care and guidance over the past few months.

Mom, we know you are happy to be reunited in heaven with Dad and your family. Your deep faith in God gave you strength in good times and bad. We all love you and will miss you so much.

A family greeting will be held at Holy Spirit Church on Thursday at 10:00 AM, followed by a mass at 11:00. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery following the funeral mass.
