MARIE P. UZLIC February 7, 1917 – March 12, 2017

Marie P. Uzlic passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017 , one month and five days after her one hundredth birthday.  She was born in Sheridan, Montana Wednesday, February 7, 1917 to Ernst and Augusta (Flick) Zerbe.  The family moved to Butte when she was six years old and Marie attended Butte Schools.  She and Manya "Blackie" Uzlic were married in Butte in 1936 and he passed away August 29, 2007. Marie is also preceded in death by a grandson Steven Plate.  

Marie had worked at the Colonial Cake Shop as well as Eddy's Bakery and the Buttrey Bakery. She served as a volunteer with Hospice as well as the head Start Program.  Marie was an avid reader and started each day by completing the daily crossword puzzle.  She was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening especially her flower gardens.  She also loved to watch and care for the hummingbirds.

Marie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Martha Jean and Carl Plate of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Laura Uzlic of Butte, grandchildren, Cindy and John London, Susan Plate, Monica and Ken Talkington, James Uzlic and Tammy Sheffield. Great-grandchildren include Alex and Evan London, Isiah and Maria Talkington and Leisha, John and Joe Sheffield. 

Cremation has taken place.  Memorial services will be conducted this (Tuesday) morning at 11 o'clock in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home with Pastor David Andersen officiating.  Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 10 o'clock.  A reception will follow in Wayrynen-Richards Community Center.  Private interment of ashes will take place in Sunset Memorial Park.  Memorials in memory of Marie may be made to the Butte Food Bank or a charity of the donor's choice.
